Haven
from Hunger was started in 1985 by several volunteers as a soup
kitchen serving an evening meal two nights a week at the United
Methodist Church of Peabody, Massachusetts. Following a fire
at the church, the Haven moved to its present location 71 Wallis
Street, Peabody, Massachusetts. Since its inception, the
Haven has grown into the largest food pantry in the North Shore of
Massachusetts, serving many communities.
The Haven is a non-profit agency with minimal staffing. It
relies heavily on the goodwill of volunteers who give their time,
and donations from people and business in many communities.
The Haven staff and volunteers have created a loving and caring environment
that provides nourishment for the heart, spirit and body
of the people they serve as well as those who serve them.
